How to prepare homemade Easter eggs

homemade Easter eggs

Taking advantage of Easter and the children's vacations, or just for a sweet treat, we recommend this homemade chocolate Easter egg recipe, which you can make with or without filling.

Besides, it is not only a delicious recipe, but it can also become a fun activity in which you can let your imagination fly when decorating them.

Preparation method for the homemade Easter egg

  1. Break the milk chocolate into pieces and melt only 100 g. in a bain-marie. You can use two saucepans of different sizes and put water in the larger one.
  2. Boil the water and place the small saucepan on top.
  3. Add the chopped milk chocolate to the small saucepan. Then, wait for it to melt while constantly stirring to prevent it from burning.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the remaining 50g of milk chocolate with a spoonful of extra virgin olive oil from Spain. Then stir until it melts and incorporates.
  5. Repeat the above steps for the white chocolate, and do not forget to add the tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil from Spain.
  6. Wait for it to cool without regaining its shape and hardness. It must continue to be moldable.
  7. Place the mold of the homemade Easter eggs on a firm surface, and with the help of the kitchen brush, paint the entire surface of the mold with milk chocolate.
  8. Make as many coats as you want the thickness of the chocolate layer and keep the mold in the refrigerator until it hardens, about 15 minutes. As a recommendation, about three passes will allow our homemade Easter eggs to be thick enough so that they do not break. Do not forget each of the edges, as they will be the joining point of the Easter egg.
  9. If it hardens during the process, place the pan back in the small saucepan over the boiling water for another 10 seconds and stir.
  10. Repeat steps 6 to 9 for white chocolate to place it in the mold.
  11. Once it is cooled, remove it from the mold little by little.
  12. If you want to add any of the surprise ingredients for the filling, place them inside one of the halves, and remember to leave enough space to close it.
  13. Heat the leftover milk chocolate again and, with the help of a fine brush, paint the edges and join the two halves together. For instance, you could repeat it many times if you had imperfections and put it back in the refrigerator to cool.
  14. Finally, for decoration, heat the leftover white chocolate, and with the help of a paper cone, use it as a mini piping bag and let your imagination run wild. You can make dots, lines, waves, or small circles and let it cool. This step is the most fun to do as a family or to personalize them, even with the names of your little ones or other loved ones.

Remember that the amount of chocolate to use will depend on your molds. Enjoy this and other delicious recipes, and especially the homemade Easter egg hunt. Happy Easter to all!
