Lemonade is the refreshing drink that everybody knows. Simple and sweet, it only takes a few minutes to make a cold and energizing beverage, perfect for hot Summer days or for rehydrating after a workout or a run.

What you may not know is that you can learn how to make lemonade even healthier and revitalizing with a simple previous step. With a bit of Spanish olive oil and some lemon zest, your lemonade will have a flavor boost and also lots of good components, such as oleic acid, natural antioxidants or vitamin E.

Why? Because Spanish olive oil is a source of health and wellbeing. Using it, you are on the way to reduce the risk of heart diseases, diabetes and obesity. It’s also delicious, so... it’s a win-win situtation!

Let’s make some refreshing and healthy lemonade!

How to make lemonade:

  1. Grate a couple of lemons’ skin and put the zest into a glass jar. Add the EVOO from Spain and the juice of 1 lemon. Cover the jar and shake it, so the olive oil and the lemon flavors combine. Let it rest overnight at room temperature.
  1. Put a casserole at medium heat to make a syrup. Add the sugar and a cup of water. Gently stir while the ingredients start to heat and the sugar dissolves. Once it is about to boil, turn it off.
  1. Add this syrup into a big glass jar, then add the cup of fresh lemon juice and then, the lemon and Spanish olive oil mixture that you made the previous night.
  1. Stir everything with a long spoon and then add 2 cups of cold water and a few fresh mint leaves. Mix it all well and the lemonade is ready! For a stronger lemon flavor, add some lemon slices.
  1. If you want your healthy lemonade to be even colder, add some ice cubes or leave it in the fridge for a few hours. Also, remember to stir it every time before serving, to make sure the sugar doesn’t sit at the bottom of the jar.
