GLOBAL DIMENSION SENSOLIVE_OIL Operational Group

The GLOBAL DIMENSION SENSOLIVE_OIL Operational Group was founded to provide continuity to the work accomplished between 2020 and 2021 by GO SENSOLIVE_OIL. Specifically, this project has enabled the olive oil sector to benefit from the advances arising from the initiative, which aims to implement a reliable, easily standardized instrumental method to commercially classify virgin olive oils. These new technologies would complement the test panel in this task. This work was initiated nine years ago by the Spanish Olive Oil Interprofessional Organization, the Government of Spain, and the Andalusian Regional Government. In the latest phase, companies in the olive oil sector have the opportunity to test the effectiveness of the self-assessment models, developed to evaluate the different categories of their virgin olive oils under working conditions.

This continuity project’s most immediate objective is to optimize a centralized classification model that may be used by the different participating laboratories.

This main objective will be aligned with other more specific objectives:

Objective 1.1: Support Innovation, digitalization of quality self-assessment in production systems and networking

Objective 1.2: Promote collaboration and co-design of actions and joint sector-public administration work

Objective 1.3 Strengthen interprofessional organizations’ role as a catalyst for the sector and as a driver to implement innovation and disseminate results

Objective 1.4: Promote the internationalization of results and Spain’s status as an international benchmark for innovation in the olive oil sector worldwide

An innovation project across autonomous communities, it is part of the National Rural Development Program 2014-2020 and financed with EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) funding. Specifically, the GLOBAL DIMENSION SENSOLIVE_OIL Operational Group receives 80% EU co-financing of a total investment of 425.829,36 euros, with the Directorate General for Rural Development, Innovation and Agrifood Training (DGDRIFA) as the managing authority for the application of the aid. The beneficiary members of the project are the Spanish Olive Oil Interprofessional Organization and the Campus for International Excellence in Agrifood (ceiA3). The collaborating members include DCOOP SCA, SOVENA España SA, DEOLEO GLOBAL SA, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Sustainable Development of the Andalusian Regional Government. In addition, the University of Córdoba and the University of Granada will potentially participate as subcontracted members.
