The chuck steak is one of the most affordable cuts of the beef. But that doesn’t mean it is not delicious and tasty when well prepared.

Beef is always a versatile meat, and the chuck steak can be prepared in different ways. Today, you will learn how to make grilled beef chuck steak with a simple marinade and then a couple of sauce options to go along with the meat.

Ask your local butcher for a chuck steak of about 1 ½ inches thick. That’s usually the best thickness for steak to be well seared on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside.

Remember, when cooking, good results come with good ingredients. Make sure to get a good chuck steak cut and to use Spanish olive oil. Why? Because olive oils from Spain are the world leaders, with more than 200 varieties and a production of more than 50% globally, that’s why!

How to make chuck steak:

  1. First, chop the garlic cloves and a small bunch of fresh parsley.
  2. Mix them with the salt, the ground black pepper and the 2 tablespoons of Spanish EVOO.
  3. Put the chuck steak in a zip-lock bag and add the marinade. Once the bag is zipped, make sure the marinade is extended all over the meat.
  4. Leave it in the fridge for a couple of hours.
  5. Once the beef chuck steak is marinated, take it out of the bag and leave it for some minutes at room temperature.
  6. Dry the meat well with some paper towels.
  7. Put a grill at high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil from Spain. Make sure it is well distributed all over the grill –you can use a brush for this-.
  8. Cook the chuck steak on the grill for about 5 minutes each side to get it at medium rare. It’s up to you to grill it a bit more or a bit less, depending on your preference.
  9. Once the meat is grilled, cut it in stripes, season it with some salt and pepper and serve it.

Chimichurri sauce is a great side for a chuck steak

Your beef chuck steak is ready! We strongly recommend serving it with some chimichurri sauce, no doubt one of the best sauces for meat. Another great option is the romesco sauce, made with chiles: a must if you like spicy sauces!
