The Protected Designation of Origin recognizes extra-virgin olive oils produced in a specific area of Spain with particular olive varieties (one variety or more representative of that area) and produced under very strict production and quality standards.

Only extra-virgin olive oils that meet these standards are eligible to bear the Designation of Origin seal on their labels. Spain has 29 Olive Oil Designation of Origins spread throughout the country. It is a testament to the excellent quality of the extra-virgin olive oils produced in Spain.
